Librarian I/II (05-23)
The City of Whittier is seeking a qualified Librarian I/II to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing library services to the public, including reference, circulation, and programming services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide reference services to patrons, including assistance with locating materials, using library resources, and providing information on library services.
• Assist patrons with circulation services, including checking out materials, renewing materials, and collecting fines.
• Assist patrons with using library computers, including setting up accounts, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing basic computer instruction.
• Assist with library programming, including planning and organizing events, preparing materials, and providing instruction.
• Maintain library collections, including shelving materials, cataloging materials, and weeding materials.
• Assist with library outreach, including visiting schools and community organizations to promote library services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field.
• Previous experience working in a library setting.
• Knowledge of library services and resources.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift and move library materials.
Salary: $4,915 – $6,897 per month.
