Chief Deputy, Public Social Services
Position Summary:
The Chief Deputy of Public Social Services is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Public Social Services Department. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure the department meets its goals and objectives. The Chief Deputy will also be responsible for managing the department’s budget, personnel, and operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure the department meets its goals and objectives.
• Manage the department’s budget, personnel, and operations.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the department is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of the department and its staff.
• Develop and maintain relationships with other departments, agencies, and organizations.
• Represent the department at meetings and conferences.
• Develop and implement programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
• Prepare and submit reports to the department’s executive team.
• Ensure the department is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure the department is efficient and effective.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure the department is fiscally responsible.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure the department is customer-focused.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure the department is innovative and forward-thinking.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure the department is responsive to the needs of the community.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, social work, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in public administration, social work, or a related field preferred.
• At least five years of experience in public social services.
• Knowledge of public social services policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of budgeting and financial management.
• Knowledge of personnel management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
• Ability to think critically and solve problems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
Salary:
This position pays $205,443 – $319,506 a year.
